Hi, I am Heather Wight of CalenDoula Care -- Postpartum Services (PCD)DONA!

I would love to support you, your newborn and your family in your fourth trimester!

I offer educational and emotional support to new parents. I share information on newborn care, newborn cues and newborn characteristics.

I can share extensive local and online resources to support you on your parenting journey, and I can offer referrels to local medical providers for anything beyond my scope of care as a postpartum doula.

I support new parents through the learning curves of cloth diapering, baby-wearing, safe infant sleep, and so much more.

I support new parents with feeding their baby, whether breastfeeding, chestfeeding or bottle feeding. I teach about baby's hunger cues, latch and positioning, pumping and storing breast milk, and formula feeding.

I help with sibling care and support sibling's adjustment to life with a new baby. I have years of child care/nanny experience and am comfortable playing with, making snacks for, reading to, and diffusing moments of tension with older siblings.

I offer in-home light meal preparation, and am experienced with gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian meal planning and preparation.

I offer light household cleaning such as washing dishes, doing laundry and sweeping up. Tasks such as bathroom cleaning, vacuuming, and deep cleaning fall outside of my scope of care.

Though not typical postpartum care, I have years of experience with pets, farm animals, woodstoves, composting, and other homesteading systems and skills, so if these are part of your home life, I can help out as one part of the postpartum care that I provide for your family.

Drawing on my home herbalism practice and trainings, I also offer herbal support for those in the first trimester. The herbal medicine that I offer is all for external use and is gentle healing support. I make herbal oils, salves, and sitz bath blends, and calendula is the key ingredient, hence my business name-- CalenDoula Care! I grow most of my own herbs, all organically, and sometimes source from other local organic herb growers.

I offer daytime postpartum shifts between 8AM-6PM, and ask for a minimum of a 3 hour shift. I typically provide support within the first 3 months of your baby's life, but want to help meet your unique family's needs!

I am passionate about supporting new parents and their newborns. The postpartum period is a time of transition and integration, and I offer a supportive presence, a listening ear, and helping hands in this time. I fell in love with this work while supporting a dear friend postpartum in the spring of 2017. Since starting out in 2017, I have supported nine families and their newborns as a postpartum doula. I am thrilled to say that as of March 2020, I am a trained and certified PCD(DONA)!
